Funny Story

So last night, we were hanging out with some friends that have kids. Elizabeth was the youngest (of the mobile kids). You would think that she would want to hang out with the girls, one of which is only 5 months older than her... Nope, not our daughter! She was running around with the 4 year old and 2 1/2 year old boys... They were running around the house, stopping and shrieking, and here comes this super girly 17 month old girl - doing the same. I wish I had brought my camera so I could've taken a picture of it - I sure hope this isn't a sign of future years of Elizabeth chasing after boys... ;)

And just because she's cute... Here's a picture of E, tongue out in concentration - just like when she was a baby.

Thoughtful Thursday

This week has gone by so fast! I can't believe it's already Thursday! I've had two busy nights this week - a girls night on Monday and then our Bible study yesterday. I think when I'm away from Elizabeth and Alan in the evenings it makes the week fly by even faster than normal! Here are some things we've done this week...

  • David's furniture came in on Monday! Alan didn't get the message until the store was closed, so when he called on Tuesday, we found out the store is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Depending on the delivery fee, we'll either have it delivered to us or Alan will pick it up on Saturday!
Trying to sit in the stroller
  • Elizabeth also cut another molar... It's been waking her up and night and leaving her a little grumpy during the day. I can't wait until she's done getting her teeth!
Trying to figure out the remote
  • Yesterday, Elizabeth and I ran some errands with a friend who is having a baby girl very soon. We ran to Target and Hobby Lobby. I even found some cool sports decorations for D's room! I couldn't decide between two different things, so I'm waiting on Alan's opinion before I purchase anything.
Reading on her push toy
  • This morning we ran to the grocery store for a couple things. Elizabeth has drunk way more milk than normal, so we're about to run out! I can't have that happen, so we went to HEB to pick some up, and I also picked up some more strawberries and some sub bread to make yummy sandwiches! Can't wait to eat them. :)
Playing with her sippy cup
  • After E naps, we're headed to the pool for the first time in a very long time... Hope she still likes the water!

Weekend in Review

We had a wonderful, low-key weekend! We kicked it off Friday evening by having dinner at Fuddruckers and going to La-z-boy to pick out a rocking chair for David's room! We hit the jackpot while there, too! They were having a pretty big sale, so we were able to get a nice rocker for him that will hopefully last a LOOONG time. :)

Saturday, we let Elizabeth have Lucky Charms for the first time... Do you think she liked the marshmallows!?  ;)

Messy marshmallow face.

Then, Elizabeth "helped" Daddy in David's room. Alan painted his room while E and I hung out in the living room!

"helping" Daddy

Sunday, we celebrated E's 17 month birthday by going to church and finding her new room (we missed promotion Sunday)! I can't believe that she'll be a year and a half next month! I'm waiting to get my big camera back to take some good "17 month" pictures.

So excited to play with her doll house!

Such a little lady
Someone has decided that they don't like to nap on Sunday afternoons... I think I'm going to have to sit in the back seat and keep her awake because if she even sleeps for 15 minutes, she won't nap! We got home, fed her lunch, gave her a bath (she had lasagna), and then attempted to put her down... She wasn't having it! We left her in her crib for about 30 minutes, just rolling around and playing with her lovie. Alan and I finally gave up and brought her to the living room. And E was as happy as could be. Granted she got a little cranky as the day wore on, but did remarkably well for not having a nap!

Alan finished the second coat of trim in David's room, so now all we need is the furniture and David and we'll be good to go! :) Less than 70 days (hopefully) until he makes his arrival!!

30 Weeks with our Little Man

17 Months Old!!

Elizabeth,

I still can't believe you're seventeen months old! This month has been a whirlwind, and I feel like it's passed even faster than the rest! In just two short months you'll be the big sister. I know you'll love having a real life baby to dote on! You just love to love on your stuffed animals, so I can't wait until you get to love on your baby brother! It seems like you're growing leaps and bounds this month, and I know you'll continue to change all to fast.

Your Daddy and I love you very much!!

Mommy and Daddy

  • You're still eating fruit, but now it seems that strawberries are your favorite! I love to see you eat what I cut up! You're also doing a little better with eating meat and will sometimes eat it on your own, without any encouragement. :)
  • You now have 9 teeth - 6 up top and 3 on bottom. Elizabeth, your toothy smile is just about the sweetest thing ever! I thought I'd miss your gummy smile, but I definitely love a smile full of teeth.
  • You still LOVE to climb on anything and everything! I think it was this past month that I found you on the very top of the sofa - you about gave me a heart attack when I saw that!
  • You've developed a deep love for reading this month! Used to, you would only sit still for a couple pages, but now you'll let me read you several books at a time. I even have a lot of your books memorized by now... Your Daddy laughs at me when I quote them while he's reading to you.
  • You're still wearing size 3 diapers, with the exception of night time - where you where size 4. You're finally in all 18 month clothing! Some of it is still a little big, but it definitely fits better than the 12 month stuff.
These pictures were taken using my small camera... I sent in my big camera to be fixed and still haven't gotten it back. And Elizabeth just wanted to run around and play, so it was a little difficult to get good ones of her sitting down. I still think they turned out precious, but I could be a little partial... ;)

Love this face!

I Wanna Be Like You...

...Walk like you, talk like you, too... Can anyone name that movie!? :)

I think Elizabeth has been watching me pretty closely these days! Yesterday she was walking all over the house carrying her purse and a teddy bear. It reminds me of when we're getting ready to head out the door and I'm holding her and my purse! At one point, she even tried to grab her keys and hold all three things at the same time - it didn't work too well. The keys fell and hit her on her little toes...

Thoughtful Thursday

After having a fun-filled and busy week and weekend, Elizabeth and I have taken it easy this week so far! Even though we already miss our Gammie, Grammie, Pops, and PawPaw, it's been a great, relaxing week with just the two of us!

  • Monday we all went to my doctor for my monthly check-up. I'm measuring right on track! We're going back on September 10 for our final (I think) ultrasound! Then I start going every 2 weeks. I can't believe that it's already that time. This pregnancy sure has gone fast!
self-portrait!
  • Tuesday we stayed home ALL DAY long. I've been hesitant to get outside and play too much in the morning with all of the cases of West Nile in our city... I believe at last count there were 24 cases and 3 deaths. So as much as I'm missing our morning walks, it's just not worth it to me. I'd rather be safe than sorry!
Riding her butterfly
  • Wednesday we worked on some learning skills. Elizabeth knows where her hair, head, eyes, ears, nose, mouth, belly button, and toes are! She's so cute when she does it. I tried to get a picture of her doing them all, but she's never very cooperative. ;)
Trying to sit in David's car seat
  • We also read a ton of books this week. One of her favorite things to do with books is point at all the little details and have me name them. Well, on Wednesday, I asked her where certain things were and she pointed to them multiple times! We might not be talking a ton, but we sure are smart!  :)
Where are your ears?
  • Today, as I'm typing this, she's sitting in our blue chair in the office and looking at flash cards. My parents got her a couple of the Leap Frog movies, with The Letter Factory being one of them. We watched that once this week and she loved it. Now, she's playing with the letter cards that came with the movies. It's never too early to get started learning your letters!
Crazy hair!!!

Weekend in Review

Friday afternoon, while Miss Elizabeth was napping, her Grammie and PawPaw arrived! Elizabeth was excited to see them and their three puppies! We had a relaxing evening eating Chickfila and watching (part of) the second Sherlock Holmes movie. I also took Alan's mom to Orange Leaf for the first time! It sure was delicious!

Reading one of Elizabeth's favorite books
On Saturday, we ate an early breakfast with Miss E, then Alan mowed while everyone else got ready for the day. After everyone (Alan included) was cleaned up, Alan, PawPaw, and I headed to the grocery store while Elizabeth stayed home and played with Grammie. I fixed her lunch when we got home and then Alan and I were able to go out to lunch together! When we came home, Elizabeth was already in bed getting ready for her nap. :) That afternoon, Elizabeth helped Alan clean the kitchen before Jacob, Elizabeth's cousin, came over! We had a fun afternoon hanging out with Jacob and his parents. Alan grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and we all ate a ton!

Alan's parents left Sunday morning after breakfast, and the three of us spent the day running a couple errands, relaxing, and watching The Hunger Games! What a fun weekend we had! And we can't wait to see Grammie and PawPaw again! :)

Week in Review

Well, I'm going to break this post up into two... One for when my parents came in, and one for when Alan's parents came in. I've got tons of pictures, so this way I won't inundate you with them quite as much. ;)

Wednesday, we went to the aquarium with Elizabeth. She LOVED it, just like I knew she would! She did not want to be in her stroller, though. Luckily we got there right when it opened and it wasn't busy so she was able to walk/be held the entire time. That evening, we celebrated Alan's birthday (a month early...) with dinner at Saltgrass and yummy cupcakes!

Pointing at something

We're looking at a cockatoo here... Elizabeth was
fascinated by it!

Touching a "fish" (or just water in E's case)

Not too happy about trying to get a picture
She loved this tiger, so it came home with us!

Elizabeth has to open a present, too!

A fun book!!!

Handing Daddy his birthday present

Thursday, we headed to Rainforest Cafe for lunch. Elizabeth loved all the animals, especially the elephants! We had just gotten there and we were looking at the tiger cubs when all of a sudden they began to move. It startled Elizabeth and she jumped, but just as soon as she jumped, she was smiling and laughing at them!

Too distracted to smile for the camera...

My parents stayed until about 1:30 Friday afternoon. We hung out at the house that morning and then went to Five Guys for lunch. Pops put a little activity desk together for Elizabeth and she got to finger paint for the first time!
