Semi-Wordless Wednesday

I didn't get the chance to take Miss E to a pumpkin patch before David was born, and I didn't really want to get David out in a pumpkin patch, so I had to improvise this year... We bought a couple pumpkins and some pretty flowers and set up our own "pumpkin patch" in our backyard. I think we got some cute pictures, although I know I'm somewhat biased... ;)

Two Weeks Old!

Well, David is officially 2 weeks old! I can not believe it, especially considering I should still be pregnant. We had his two week well baby check yesterday. He's back up to 7 lbs 4.5 oz (1.5oz away from his birth weight) and according to the doctor, he's 21 inches. He was 21 1/4 inches when he was born, so I'm not really sure how accurate this measurement was. He is just like his big sister and daddy... He's long (65%) and slender (15%).

Rocking her brother before going to the doctor.

Sweet boy!

Weekend in Review

I feel like every Monday I say that we had a low-key weekend, but that's just how life is these days!

Friday, we had newborn pictures done, and if the rest of the pictures are as good as our sneak peak (which I'm sure they are!!!), we'll have a hard time picking which ones to print off. David was still supposed to be on his bili lights (we took a break for newborn pics), so when it came to dinner time, Alan, Elizabeth, and I went out and grabbed BBQ while Gammie stayed home with David.

Saturday, we got released from the phototherapy blanket, so we all did a happy dance! Alan watched both kiddos while Mom and I went to the grocery store (they both slept the entire time!). Elizabeth enjoyed playing with some bubbles and a pumpkin while David sat in his swing to catch some rays.

Elizabeth found David's carseat and paci and decided she needed to take a break and sit in it. I thought she looked way too big when she sat in it!

Sunday, Alan went to church and Mom and I stayed home. We did take a trip to SAMs, and both David and Elizabeth did amazing! David's cord stump finally fell off, so we were able to give him a real bath - Elizabeth was very interested and did not want to leave his side!

Now, we're headed into a new week. Can't wait to see what fun it holds!

19 Months Old!

Elizabeth,

Yet another month has come and gone and you are now closer to two years old than one. It's a little bittersweet this passage of time. I love seeing you grow and develop into a toddler, yet at the same time I miss my little one. This month you've seemed even bigger to both me and Daddy, but I know that that's because you became a big sister this month. I love to watch you love on David - you're truly a great big sister! Both Daddy and I can't wait to see your relationship with your little brother grow!

We love you bunches!
Mommy and Daddy

What you're up to these days...

Saying ALL sorts of words! You've become a little parrot. I can't even begin to keep up with all your new words from this month! However, my favorite was the word "seriously." I was still pregnant and someone parked super close to my car at Luby's. I got very frustrated and said "Seriously." Much to my (and Gammie's) surprise, you popped that word right out of your mouth. Cutest thing EVER!

You love having your picture taken! You'll actually say "cheese" and give the cutest smile when we ask you to.

You have 12 teeth, but I know at least one more is just about to break through your gums.

You love to hold your baby brother! Most of the time you're done after 5 seconds, but it's the thought that counts, right?

Being outside is one of your favorite things to do! You say "side" whenever you want to go play.

You have also developed a strong love for books, just like Mommy! You say "book, book" every time we go into your room and want to read tons of them before nap and bedtime, and anytime in between.

You started to like the fruit pouches this month. Gammie bought you several kinds and we found three or four that you really enjoy. This is a sneaky way to get fruit (and sometimes veggies) into you, since you don't typically eat them that well.

Speaking of food, Cheerio's are also a favorite... You could eat them for every meal if I let you!

You've learned to say please ("pees") when you want something. Even if it's something you shouldn't/can't have, you'll still try! It's so hard not to give in when you're asking so nicely!

You're still napping about an hour and a half to two hours at your nap time. You've actually let me start rocking you again, but I'm sure it's because I don't have a big belly anymore. ;)

You're truly a joy to parent, even during those times you are trying to test us and show your independence! We love you lots!

Sweet Big Sister

Often when Elizabeth runs across one of David's pacis she tries to sneak them in her mouth. Yesterday, however, she decided she wanted to put it where it belongs... in her little brothers mouth. E was pretty gentle with it, for the most part! I think she's going to be a great big sister.

Weekend Recap

Well, another weekend has come and gone. We had a low-key weekend, which was nice after the craziness of the week! Friday night, we got David's phototherapy blanket (which he's still having to use...).

Saturday, we hung out at the house for the morning... Elizabeth also got to go to the grocery store with Gammie while Alan mowed the lawn and I took care of our little glow worm.

Elizabeth and Daddy watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Saturday evening, Elizabeth got to go out on a "date" with Mommy and Daddy! We went to Target for some odds and ends and then to Orange Leaf to treat the Big Sister to a sweet dessert.

Riding toward facing for the first time. I wanted to keep her rear facing, but with the way she always throws her toys, I was afraid she'd end up accidentally throwing a hard toy and hurting David or putting a blanket over his face. So now E is in the back row and David is the middle of the second row.

Taking a short break from the light.

Sunday, we lazed around the house again. Gammie made yummy lasagna (and froze one, too!!

Nap time with Daddy.

Painting with the peanut butter from her sandwich.

Elizabeth is picking up words soo fast these days. One of her new favorites is "bubbles," so Gammie got some bubble bath at the grocery store. Needless to say, Miss E loved them!!

We also gave David his first sponge bath. He liked some parts of bath time, but not ll of it!

Not so sure about this water stuff.

All dried off and ready to get dressed.

Meeting Big Sister and other visitors!

My parents brought Elizabeth in shortly after David was born... I think she was a little confused at first, but she quickly warmed up! She was such a sweetheart the whole time.

First look at her Bubba

Who is this?

Alan's sister and family were sweet enough to bring us dinner the evening David was born! I was starving, as it had been over 24 hours since I had eaten. The Chick-fil-a sure tasted great and I ate every last bit!!

On the 17th, Alan's parents drove down to meet their newest grandson. We enjoyed getting to spend some time with them before they headed back home!
