Time to eat: sweet potato

Elizabeth hasn't been super interested in solids the past few days. So when I made her oatmeal this morning, I didn't make it quite as thin. As a result, she ate more than she ever has. Then, this evening, I decided to pull out some sweet potatoes. Boy, did Elizabeth LOVE them! She was leaning in to eat them and opening her mouth up for me to spoon them in. In fact, she even "fed" herself some. It was by far the messiest dinner, but totally worth it!

Yummy!

So much fun!
Weren't you taught NOT to play with your food? ;)

Giggle Bellies

This is for all of you with (or about to have) small children...

There is just one word I have to describe Giggle Bellies... AWESOME!
Image 1

My mom heard about the DVD Giggle Bellies from one of her friends and told me about them. I then proceeded to search for them on you tube. Let me tell you, whenever Elizabeth is fussy, I could pull up any one of the Giggle Belly songs and she'd calm down and be all smiley in no time! So, for her sixth month birthday, Gammie decided to give Elizabeth the actual Giggle Bellies DVD. I put it in for the first time today, and Elizabeth just stared at the TV, her mouth wide open and her eyes glued to the screen.

I noticed yesterday (while she was in her exersaucer), that she'd attempt to jump, but only when the music was playing. So I thought to myself, "I wonder if she's dancing?" So, I held Elizabeth's hands while she stood up, and, sure enough, she "danced" to an entire song - Old MacDonald Had a Farm. We sang through 3 songs before she was ready to move on to the next activity, about 12 minutes. I was amazed! I didn't get any pictures/video of her dancing, but once Daddy gets home, I'll try to get some! It was too cute!

You can be sure that we will be one of the first in line to purchase the second volume, which is set to be released in late October/early November!!

*I was not asked to do this review. It is just a product that I love and I wanted to share it with others.*

Opening presents!

Thanks to Gammie and Pops, Miss E had a half birthday celebration yesterday. Elizabeth got to open a couple of gifts, and I think she liked them! Of course, she liked the tissue paper best... She would've eaten it all if I had let her. ;) This makes me excited for Christmas! I know she didn't exactly understand what she was doing, but she was definitely interested in the packages. I bet by Christmas she'll like them even more!

6 months old!

Elizabeth,

How in the world are you already six months old? It seems like just yesterday that I was impatiently awaiting your arrival! And now you are just getting so big. You truly are such a happy baby! Mommy loves getting to spend all of her time with you. We are so blessed that Daddy works so hard to provide for us! This month has been a whirlwind of fun for us. As each day passes, you are growing up more and more. It is a joy to be your Mommy, and I know Daddy thinks the same about being your Daddy. We can't wait to see what will happen in your seventh month!

We love you!
Mommy and Daddy

Weight: 15 lbs 1 oz

Length: will get this in October...

Diaper size: Size 2

Teeth: While no teeth have broken through yet, I can definitely feel the two bottom teeth! I know I've been saying this forever, but I *think* they'll come in soon!

Clothes size: 3-6 months and 6 months, but pretty soon we'll be moving to 6-9 months! You sure are a long baby! :)

Sleep: You go to sleep around 7. Most of the time you sleep until at least 3-4am. You're not really hungry at that time, but if you fuss and don't put yourself back to sleep, we change your diaper and give you a small bottle. You then sleep until anywhere between 6:30 and 8 (Mommy definitely likes the waking up closer to 8...). You take two naps a day, with your morning nap being 2-3 hours (normally 2 1/2) and your afternoon nap 1 1/2-2 hours long.

Favorite activities/things: Playing on the floor, looking at yourself in the mirror, jumping - it doesn't matter if it's in your jumper, exersaucer, or on someone's lap, you just LOVE to jump!! You love using Mommy and Daddy's hands to get from laying down, to sitting, to standing. It won't be long before you're pulling up on actual objects. The puppies have really caught your interest this month. You can just stare and smile at them all day long. You still love to read, too! Mommy hopes you'll always love to read! Bath time is another favorite. You'd play in the bathtub for hours if I let you.

Eating: You still take a bottle about every 4 hours during the day. You drink 24-31 ounces a day, most of the time sticking to 27 ounces. You also eat twice a day - breakfast and dinner. So far you've had oatmeal, avocado, banana, and butternut squash. Tomorrow you'll try sweet potato, and then from there we'll try plums, pears, green beans, and peas! The squash has been your favorite

Nicknames: Sweet Pea, Sweet Thing, Lizzie, Miss E, Baby Doll

Talking: You still love to talk! Often times you'll wake up in the middle of the night and talk yourself back to sleep. You're exploring new sounds, too! It's so exciting! I can't wait to hear you say "Mama!!"

New adventures: Not much on the "new" front this month. Just some traveling and seeing family!

New Skills: You love to clap your feet! It is the cutest thing ever! You also started picking up your paci and putting it in your mouth - the right way. You're learning your name, too! You respond when we say it. You also reach for us when you want out of certain toys and your crib or you want to be picked up. You're getting close to crawling because you've started getting on all fours and rocking. Sometimes you even push yourself forward with your legs. You just don't know what to do with your arms yet.

Enjoy some pictures!

Funny Story...

On Monday (we were still in Abilene), Alan went to get my tire fixed. Alan's mom was at work for the day and his dad was asleep. I had to pump, so I had Elizabeth in her jumperoo. She was facing all the fun toys, which just so happened to mean she was facing away from me. I was enjoying watching her jump when all of the sudden she turned around, looked at me, and gave me the sweetest smile before turning back around to start jumping. Every 15 seconds or so, Miss E would repeat this. It was the cutest thing EVER! She just needed to make sure that her Momma was watching her have fun. :)

Time to eat: butternut squash

Last night Elizabeth got to eat butternut squash for the first time. She seemed to really like it - in fact, Miss E likes it better than bananas... Crazy, huh? And another plus - it was super easy to make! All I had to do was roast the squash  (sans the seeds) and then puree it.

Blowing raspberries... we got squash everywhere!
All done!

*almost* empty bowl!!

Outside!

Elizabeth and I decided to venture outside for a little while this afternoon. It's a beautiful day, and although it's still warm, it's not the 100+ weather we've been having. I decided I wanted to see what she thought about the grass - it's a little taller than normal since Alan hasn't cut it in the past 2 weeks. I'm sure that's on the agenda for this weekend (after watching the Aggies BTHO OSU).

Elizabeth was kind of perplexed by the grass - she wasn't quite sure what to do about it. Of course, once we were ready to go back inside, she pulled a huge handful with her. Too bad I didn't get a picture of that!
