Elizabeth's 3 year and David's 18 month check-up!

We headed to the doctor April 15 for both kiddos well-child check-ups. I took them by themselves, and they did very well!

Elizabeth
At 3 years old, Elizabeth weighed 28 pounds 4 ounces (23%) and was 2 feet 11.25 inches (11%).

David
At 18 months, David weight 25 pounds 4 ounces (66%) and was 2 feet 9.75 inches (90%)

So, to sum it up, David is only 3 pounds less and 1 1/2 inches shorter than Elizabeth. I have a feeling he might catch up to her sooner rather than later!

Unfortunately for everyone, both David and Elizabeth had to get shots. They both cried, but sweet Elizabeth was so confused why the nurse hurt her. She kept saying, "she hurt me," and "why did she hurt me?" over and over again.

I decided to take the kiddos to DoubleDave's after shots and while there I talked by text to my mom. When Elizabeth asked who/why I was talking to someone I told her Gammie was checking up on her. She immediately started crying and asking why the nurse hurt her again. She finally calmed down and I thought we were done with the drama. Not so much...

Thirty minutes before Alan got home Miss E was running around playing outside. Well, as soon as Daddy came home, she sat on the couch and started complaining about the nurse that hurt her and with the fact that her leg hurt. She said she couldn't walk and started limping around. Elizabeth even went so far as to say she couldn't walk to the dinner table. Daddy, however, picked her up and carried her. She continued to limp throughout the evening (with sporadic normal walking thrown in) and being dramatic. Elizabeth sure keeps us laughing and on our toes!!

Happy Easter!

Alan had Good Friday off, so we headed to Texarkana Thursday evening to spend Easter weekend with my parents and grandparents. We didn't get in until about 11:30, and the kids didn't go to bed until 1-1:30... Gotta love getting a second wind after sleeping in the car. :)

Friday, David got his first "big boy" hair cut, and we went to lunch and out shopping for some meat. Unfortunately, the weekend before our freezer thawed out while we were out of town... It was still locked but for some reason it didn't seal well so we lost EVERYTHING in the freezer. I was soooo upset! Luckily my parents got us some meat so we can slowly begin stocking our freezer again.

Saturday, Alan and my dad headed out to do some work on some land, and Mom, the kids, and I went shopping for Easter shoes! We found some precious ones, and Miss E didn't want to take hers off! My grandparents came over for a yummy steak dinner and we all got ready for Easter morning.

We woke up bright and early Easter morning! We got the kids ready for church then headed to see what the Easter bunny brought the kids.

After church (we went to the early service), we came home, got lunch in the oven, then went to hunt the eggs the Easter bunny left. David's basket is almost as big as he is! ;) They both loved finding the eggs! I wish I could have recorded David's reactions when he found eggs. He made this adorable noise and would start shaking the eggs right away! After a while, instead of putting them in the basket, he'd open them to see what goodies were inside. Elizabeth was a true pro and found so many eggs! Next year will be even more fun when we can really hide them.

After we hunted eggs outside, we went inside to find a special egg that my grandparents filled! It took a bit more time for the kids to find these, but once they did, they were so excited!

We headed back to College Station after we ate lunch, and the kids napped more than halfway home! Elizabeth woke up once, said something really random, then passed back out again for about 45 minutes. This never happens! All in all, we had a great weekend and look forward to seeing everyone again soon!

Our Little Man is 18 Months Old!

The difference between a boy and a girl... Elizabeth was always excited to take pictures by this age. David, however, not so much. He couldn't wait to get down and go run and play! It's so fun to see the differences between the kids as the get older and figure out more about themselves and their likes/dislikes!

  • At 18 months you weigh 25 lbs 4 oz and you are 2 ft. 9.75 inches!
  • You're wearing 18-24 month and 24 months clothes, although the waist is still a bit big on some brands. You also still wear size 4 diapers (Pampers at night and Huggies during the day!)

  • We turned your forward facing this month, and you love it! The first time we did it, you just looked and grinned the whole car ride.
  • Your absolute favorite thing to do is go outside! You love to dig in the dirt, blow bubbles, and climb on our playset.

  • You haven't been eating quite as good lately, but I'm sure that won't stay that way for long! You've got to catch up with big sister. ;)
  • We've started going on walks almost daily, and you get so excited when I tell you to go climb in the stroller.

  • You are talking all the time, still in one word, but I know you'll take off soon - you've got the words!
  • Still the same amount of teeth! I asked your pediatrician about your extra tooth and she said you'll just have it until you lose your baby teeth!

  • You have absolutely  no fear! You climb on everything, even the top of the couch. You've taken a couple tumbles this month, but nothing has resulted in something a little snuggle couldn't heal.
  • You've also become a great cuddler! A lot of times after you wake up from your nap and before you go to bed you are content just to sit in my lap! I'm enjoying it while I can because I know it won't last forever.

  • You went to the zoo for the first time (that you can remember) and loved running and looking at all the animals!
  • You also went to your first "dance," to celebrate your PaPaw's birthday! You and your sister were so much fun to watch run around the dance floor, dance, and clap to the music.

  • You are all boy and love anything boy related, from cars to balls to getting dirty!
  • You love your big sister, and from time to time I'll catch you holding her hand in the car... Melts my heart everytime!

  • You are a bundle of energy when you are awake, but you normally sleep 11-13 hours at night and when you're home, you nap once a day generally for 2 1/2-3 1/2 hours! I only wish your big sister still did that!
  • Your daddy, sister, and I love you so much David!!!

Abilene Zoo

We headed up to Abilene this past weekend to go to a wedding for Alan's cousin. The wedding wasn't until the evening, so we went to the Abilene Zoo and made a morning out of it! It's a small zoo, and a perfect size for Elizabeth and David to explore! I kind of went picture crazy, but it was so fun to see their reactions (this was D's first time to go when he understood what was going on, and E's second time!).

She loved the flamingos!

Holding Grammie's hand

Windblown hair

waiting to feed the giraffes!

David waving at Grammie

Feeding the giraffe!

Waving at some kind of monkey

Love matching overalls!!

We were not having family pictures...

Trying cotton candy for the first time...

...I think he liked it!

... and so did she!

Climbing around on Daddy

We had a great time visiting Alan's parents and getting to hang out with Aunt April, Addison, and Kailyn. Unfortunately, I didn't get any pictures with the cousins... Next time! :)
